OW blest is he, who ne'er consents Nor stands in sinners' ways, nor sits 2 But makes the perfect law of God 3 Like some fair tree which, fed by streams,. With timely fruit doth bend, He still shall flourish, and success 4 For God approves the just man's ways; To happiness they tend; But sinners, and the paths they tread Shall both in ruin end. 1 PSALM 2. C. M. THOU, gracious God, art my defence; 2 Since whensoe'er, in my distress, 3 Guarded by him I lay me down 4 Salvation to the Lord belongs; PSALM 3. C. M. 1 THOU, to whom all creatures bow Through all the world how great art thou, In heaven thy wondrous acts are sung, And yet thou mak'st the infant tongue 3 When heaven, thy beauteous work on high, Employs my wond'ring sight; The moon that nightly rules the sky, 4 0, what is man, that Lord, thou lov'st Or what his offspring, that thou prov'st PSALM 4. L. M. 1 THE Lord look'd down from heaven's high tower, And all the sons of men did view, To see if any own'd his power, If any truth or justice knew; 2 But all, he saw, were gone aside, All were degenerate grown and base; None took religion for their guide, Not one of all the sinful race. 3 How will they tremble then for fear, And never will their cause forsake. 4 0 that from Sion he'd employ His might, and burst the oppressive band! Then shouts of universal joy Should loudly echo through the land. PSALM 5. L. M. 1 No change of time shall ever shock My firm affection, Lord, to thee; For thou hast always been my Rock, 2 Thou my deliverer art, my God; 3 To thee I will address my prayer, PSALM 6. C. M. 1 GOD'S perfect law converts the soul, Reclaims from false desires; With sacred wisdom his own word 2 The statutes of the Lord are just, His pure commands, in search of truth, 3 His perfect worship here is fix'd, 1 4 Of more esteem than golden mines, More sweet than honey, or the drops PSALM 7. C. M. 1 THE Lord himself, the mighty Lord Vouchsafes to be my guide; The Shepherd, by whose constant care 2 In tender grass he makes me feed, Then leads me to cool shades, and where 8 He does my wandering soul reclaim, 4 I pass the gloomy vale of death, For there his aiding rod and staff 5 Since God doth thus his wondrous love Through all my life extend, That life to him I will devote, 1 То PSALM 8.
