While generally distributed, it rarely occurs in abundance, and is not known from the higher Catskills, southern Alleghanies, or other elevated regions. Avanica it differs by less closely wound whorls and by the inward dentition of the aperture. It appears to be a very rare species. I found one specimen under the bark of a cocoa-nut tree on Penang, and two others on the opposite coast in the Wellesley Province.
