able to write a good business letter is no ordinary acquirement, and forms one of the chief elements of a complete business education. To facilitate advancement in this department, a system has been adopted from which the most satisfactory results may be attained. The Student being required to write letters on various subjects, both at the suggestion of the teacher and for the requirement of the business in which he is engaged. In addition to this, the system of intercommunication affords the best possible advantages for conducting an actual corresponds applied to Wholesale and Retail Merchandising, Com-ence between the students of our different Colleges.ission, Forwarding, Steamboating, Railroading, Manuacturing, Banking, etc., and requiring the Student to pen, conduct and close more than Thirty Sets of Books, oth in Single and Double Entry, fully illustrating the ethod of changing from one system to the other, with very variety of Partnership contract, division of losses id gains, etc. The Sets embrace a large variety of enies, and bring into requisition all the forms of business aper, such as Notes, Drafts, Bills of Exchange, Bills of ading, Certificates of Deposit, Statements, etc.

PENMANSHIP.

In this department we offer unsurpassed facilities. The nportance of a good hand writing is evident to all, and o person can be considered as properly qualified for the uties of an Accountant without the possession of this are and beautiful art. Niebuhr, the great Roman Histoan, said, "A bad hand writing ought never to be foriven," and this remark is fully justified in the importance ttending this qualification, and the uniform preference iven by the best business men to those who possess it to commendable degree of perfection.

The Spencerian system of writing is adopted as our tandard, because it contains all the essentials of a beauiful, rapid, business like style, it is remarkably adapted o the requirements of business, is easily taught, readily cquired, and when proper attention is bestowed upon it, ever fails to make good penmen.

We earnestly solicit an examination of our facilities in his department. The public are cordially invited to call and examine our samples at the College. Specimens will

lso be sent to all who desire.

COMMERCIAL CALCULATIONS.

With the practice thus afforded, he is enabled, in a comparatively short space of time, to acquit himself with a satisfactory degree of credit.

MERCANTILE LAW.

A course of lectures upon those branches of the law most useful to the Commercial Student, will be delivered once in each week throughout the season. Principal and Agent, Partnership and its relations, Promissory Notes and Bills of Exchange, with the several relations of the parties, Bargain, Sale Delivery of Property, Warranty, Guranty and Suretieship, with their conditions and relations. The Statute of Frauds and its effects, the Statute of Liabilities and its workings, together with a view of the law of Fire and Marine Insurance, Interest, Usury, etc., will constitute the subjects to be treated by the lec

turer.

The value of this class of knowledge cannot be overestimated. Avoiding all technical terms, and all useless displays of learning, it will be the aim of the Lecturer to convey, in plain language, a common sense view of the law, adapted to the understanding of auditory, and illustrated by reference to the decisions of the Courts upon the leading cases in each branch of the subject.

TELEGRAPHING.

The inducements to obtain a thorough knowledge of Telegraphing were never so great as at the present time. The large and increasing demand for good operators has induced us to organize a separate department for thorough instruction in this branch, and we are now enabled to present advantages equal to any that can be offered on the The instruction in this department will have direct ref- continent. An experienced practieal operator has charge of the instruction in this branch, who will devote his special attention to the students under his charge.

We are enabled to present many improvements, and some new and eminently practical features in the methods of Commercial Computations, which are the results of years of business experience, requiring, in many instances, but about one-fourth the time and figures used by the ordinary methods.

Those improvements apply to Addition, Multiplication, Division, Interest, Discount, Partnership, Settlements, etc.

BUSINESS CORRESPONDENCE.

Our system of intercommunication presents a rare opportunity for becoming skilled in letter writing. To be

In these branches so requisite for every accountant, the difficulties usually encountered are entirely overcome by a new and rapid method, dispensing entirely with the use of Tables. The instruction in these branches alone is well worth the amount charged for the complete course, to any person contemplating a commercial life.
