O may my soul, from matter free,
Thy loveliness unclouded see!

My soul, when I shake off this dust,
LORD, in Thy arms I will entrust;
O make me Thy peculiar care,
Some mansion for my soul prepare.

As every night lays down our head,
And morning opes our eyes;
So shall the dust be once our bed,
And so we hope to rise:

To rise and see Thy beauteous light

Spring from those eyes of Thine ;
Not to be checked by any night,
But clear for ever shine.

Ejaculations.

Evening. O JESUS, keep me in Thy sight; and save me through the coming night.

Night. Through life's long day, and death's dark night, O gentle JESUS, be my Light.

Lying down to sleep.

O LORD, in Thy dear love

fit me for perfect Rest above.

The Last Thought. How sweet to rest for ever on my SAVIOUR's breast!

At any time, Day or Night. My FATHER, Thou art the Guide of my youth.

Or,

Thou art my FATHER, my GOD, and my strong Salvation.

Let such as love Thy salvation say alway—
THE LORD BE PRAISED.

PART V.

FAMILY PRAYERS FOR A WEEK.

"Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while."-S. Mark vi. 31.

49. SUNDAY MORNING.

In the Name of the

FATHER, and of the SON, and

of the HOLY GHOST. Amen.

Our FATHER, Which art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in Earth, As it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil : For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

O God, we believe that Thou art here present with

us. We are not worthy to come into Thy Presence. But Thou hast called us, and we come to Thee.

LORD, grant Thy servants grace to obey Thee, and help us to give up this holy day to Thy love and service. Pardon our past neglects; take away all the sins of the past week; and let Thy Presence guide us every day.

O LORD, in Whom we live, and without Whom we die: kill in us all desires of the flesh, and quicken our hearts with Thy holy love; that we may not regard the vanities of the world, but give our love to Thee above all. May our thoughts and words be of Thee, our works and sufferings all for Thee.

O LORD, teach us to observe the times, and love the places of holy worship which Thou hast appointed. Make us diligent in Thy service, and reverent at our devotions. Grant that, as Thy saints and angels in heaven serve Thee without ceasing, so we may, with them and all Thy saints on earth, serve Thee without fainting; till we all come into the presence of Thy glory, and adore Thee for ever; through JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

O merciful GOD, increase, we pray Thee, the number and the graces of such as are zealous for Thy glory

and for the salvation of sinners. Show them the true way of teaching, and let Thy blessing be upon their pious work.

Bless Thy Holy Catholic Church, spread upon the face of the whole earth. Grant that we may all be, and continue to be, living faithful and obedient members, under CHRIST the Head, in that Church, all the days of our lives.

Be pleased to hear the prayers of Thy Church; and grant that, all errors and evils being taken away, she may serve Thee in peace and safety, through JESUS CHRIST Our SAVIOUR. Amen.

The LORD bless us and keep us this day; the

LORD make His face to shine upon us, and keep us under the shadow of His wings; the LORD lift up the light of His countenance upon us, and give us peace, now and for ever. Amen.

50. SUNDAY EVENING.

In the Name. Our FATHER. [As on Sunday Morning.]

O GOD, Who art the author of all good gifts and the FATHER of mercies: We, Thine unworthy servants, desire to praise Thy Name for all Thy goodness towards us.

Gracious GOD, Who alone art worthy of all our service: Grant that we may serve and please Thee, as we ought, with all our heart and with all our strength; that, abiding in Thy faith, fear, and love unto our lives' end, we may be made happy for ever in heaven.

Almighty GoD, Maker and Preserver of all things: Help us cheerfully to commit ourselves and all that belongs to us to Thy merciful care. May we ever look up to Thee for what we want, and be thankful for Thy favours. May we never resist Thy dealings with us, nor despise the means of grace which Thou hast appointed for us.

Grant us an interest in all the prayers of Thy Holy Church, which have this day been offered at the throne of grace.

Blessed be GOD, Who gives us what is best for us, keeps us from dangers, and provides for us what we have not deserved! The good LORD make us mindful of our duty; that we, who have learned how we ought to walk and to please GOD, may continue to do so all the days of our lives; through JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

May Thy Good Spirit, O LORD, sanctify, govern,

and preserve the Church of England, keep all her members from the spirit of error and delusion, guard her faith against the restless attacks of Satan and his agents, and lead us all in the way of life eternal; through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD. Amen.

The LORD bless and preserve us this night; the LORD make His face to shine upon us, and keep us under the shadow of His wings; the LORD lift up the light of His countenance upon us, and give us peace and rest in Him; now and for ever. Amen.

51. MONDAY MORNING.

In the Name. Our FATHER.

LORD, Thou hast kept us all our lives unto this day. Help us to spend all our days in Thy fear and love.

Teach us, O gracious GOD, to begin our works with fear, to continue them with obedience, and to finish them with love; and, after all, to sit humbly down in hope, and with cheerful confidence look up to Thee, Whose promises are faithful, and Whose rewards are without end.

Order our steps, O LORD, that we may not stumble at the uneven ways of the world; but steadily go on to our glorious home; neither complaining of the road, nor turning aside from it.

Give us,

LORD, Thou knowest what is best for us. we pray Thee, what Thou wilt, as much as Thou wilt, and when Thou wilt. Do with us in all things as Thou seest best, as it shall please Thee, and as is most for Thine honour. LORD, we are Thine: make us ready to do all things that Thou commandest: teach us to live not to ourselves, but to Thee.

LORD GOD of Hosts, King most mighty, by Whom kings reign, and in Whose hands are the hearts of kings: Grant unto Thy servant Victoria our Queen,
