that, doing all things for Thy glory, I may see Thy glory hereafter.

Grant that I may perceive and know what things I ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil the same.

O GOD, Almighty and Merciful, let Thy Fatherly kindness be upon all whom Thou hast made. Hear the prayers of all that call upon Thee; draw mercifully to Thyself them that never pray for themselves; pity the sighs of them that are in misery; open the eyes of them that are in darkness; give more grace to them that fear and serve Thee; for JESUS CHRIST'S sake. Amen.

GOD the FATHER bless me; GOD the SoN defend me; GOD the HOLY GHOST preserve me and mine, this day and for ever. Amen.

32. THURSDAY EVENING.

In the Name. Our FATHER.

It hath pleased Thee, O LORD, to add another day to the years of my life, and to keep me from the dangers of an evil world. For these, and for all Thy mercies bestowed upon me from day to day, I bless Thy good and gracious providence; most earnestly beseeching Thee to pardon my offences of the day past, and to grant that they may never rise up in judgment against me.

Enlighten me, LORD JESUS, with the brightness of Thy light; and cast out all darkness from my heart. Restrain my wandering thoughts: fight against them that fight against me. Pour forth Thy grace from above; water my heart with the dew of heaven; lift up my mind; take away the load of sin; raise my desires to heavenly things; and fill me with Thy love.

Grant, LORD, to all penitents a true sense of their sins, true repentance for them, and Thy gracious pardon ; that their souls may be saved in the day of the LORD JESUS.

May Almighty GOD take me and all that belong to me under His care! May He give His angels charge concerning us! May He keep us in peace and safety, through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD!

GOD the FATHER bless me; GOD the SON defend me; GOD the HOLY GHOST preserve me and mine, this night and for ever. Amen.

33. FRIDAY MORNING.

In the Name. Our FATHER.

I will arise and go to my FATHER, and will say unto Him: FATHER, I have sinned against heaven and before Thee, and am no more worthy to be called Thy child.

O cleanse Thou me from my secret faults. Consider and hear me, O LORD, my GoD; lighten mine eyes, that I sleep not in deadly sin. O remember not the sins and offences of my youth; but according to Thy mercy think Thou upon me, O LORD, for Thy goodness. A broken and contrite heart, O GOD, shalt Thou not despise.

Give me grace that I may continue in Thy fear all the day long; that I may live and act as in Thy Presence; and that it may be the purpose of my soul never to offend Thee by wilful sin.

Teach me gladly to take at Thy hands good and bad, bitter and sweet, joy and sorrow; and in all things to be heartily thankful unto Thee.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST, Who saidst to Thy Apostles, Peace I leave with you, My Peace I give unto you: Regard not my sins, but the faith of Thy Church, and

grant unto her that peace and unity which is agreeable to Thy will: Who livest and reignest GOD for ever and

ever.

Have mercy, LORD, on all sinners; turn their vices into virtues; make them lovers of Thee, and keepers of Thy law; that they may be numbered with Thy saints in glory everlasting.

The peace of GOD, which passeth all understanding; theblessing of GOD Almighty, the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY GHOST; the virtue of the blessed Cross and Passion of our LORD JESUS CHRIST be with me now and unto the end. Amen.

34. FRIDAY EVENING.

In the Name. Our FATHER.

Almighty GoD, Who hast kept me this day from many sins and dangers : I praise Thee for Thy grace and goodness. Forgive me all those things of which my conscience is afraid or ought to accuse me. And grant that the sins which by my frailty have been committed may be more carefully guarded against; for JESUS CHRIST's sake. Amen.

Give me the victory over all my sins and failings; increase in me the graces of faith, hope, and charity;of humility, meekness, patience, resignation, and all other Christian virtues.

Grant that in all my troubles I may suffer as a Christian, and not grieve as an unbeliever; that I may receive afflictions as punishments due to my past offences, as an exercise of my faith and patience and humility, and as a trial of obedience; and that all things may lead to the good of my soul and to Thy glory.

Give me a true compassion for the miseries of others, that Thou mavest have compassion on me at the last

day. Keep me from all idle and vain expenses, that I may have to give to him that needeth.

LORD, help me to pray for those that hate me. Give repentance to them and to me; that Thou mayest forgive us. Show Thy mercy to us, that we may learn to be kind to one another; for JESUS CHRIST's sake. Amen.

The peace of GOD, which passeth all understanding; the blessing of GOD Almighty, the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY GHOST; the virtue of the blessed Cross and Passion of our LORD JESUS CHRIST be with me, now and unto the end. Amen.

35. SATURDAY MORNING.

In the Name. Our FATHER.

O most merciful God, I have sinned against Thee; I have abused Thy goodness; I have not been thankful to Thee for Thy patience. Of Thy great mercy give me still the means of grace and pardon, help me to rise from the sleep of sin, work in me true godly sorrow, lead me to repentance and salvation.

Grant me, O LORD, daily to prepare for death, fear the judgment, flee from hell, and come nearer to heaven.

Give me grace so to fight against the enemies of my soul, that I may pass my pilgrimage in Thy fear, and at last enter into Thy glory; through the merits of JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

LORD, sanctify and forgive all that I have tempted to evil by my words or by my life; and teach in the right way all those whom I have led to error. Let the light of Thy countenance shine on all who have done me good: let them never come into any affliction or sadness, but such as may tend to Thy glory and their good.

In tender mercy remember all sick and dying persons, that they may omit nothing that is needful to make their peace with Thee.

My GoD, I pray Thee let none of them that desire my prayers be without Thy blessing; but defend, comfort, and guide them to their lives' end.

May the Almighty and Merciful LORD, FAther, SON, and HOLY GHOST, bless and preserve me, and bring me to life everlasting. Amen.

36. SATURDAY EVENING.

In the Name. Our FATHER.

Forgive me, LORD, the sins of my youth and my last sins; the sins of my soul and of my body; my open and my secret sins; my careless and my wilful sins; all things done to please myself and to please others, which have been displeasing to Thee; sins hidden from others and forgotten by me, yet seen and remembered by Thee. LORD, forgive me all that Thou knowest, for JESUS CHRIST's sake. Amen.

O Thou that art the Light Eternal and the Sun of Righteousness, evermore arising and never going down, giving life and food and gladness to all things: Shine upon me in Thy mercy; cast Thy blessed beams upon the darkness of my mind, and the black mists of my sins and errors; for Thou, LORD JESUS, art my SAVIOUR. Amen.

Teach me, O LORD, to number my days, that I may apply my heart unto wisdom; ever to remember my last end, that I may not sin against Thee.

May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of GOD, rest in peace. Eternal rest give to them, O LORD; and let perpetual light shine upon them.

O GOD, my Keeper and Defender: I lay me down
