INDEX TO THE FIRST LINES.
Again, the Lord of life and light All praise to Him who dwells in bliss All praise to Thee, my God, this night All hail the power of Jesu's name Amid life's wild commotion And can it be that I should gain And have I measured half my days Approach, my soul, the mercy-seat As once for Jonah, so the Lord As pants the hart for cooling streams As the sun's enlivening eye Awake, my soul! and with the sun Awake, my soul! lift up thine eyes Awake, my soul, to meet the day
Father of mercies, in Thy word Father, I know that all my life Father of all, in every age Father of all, supremely great Far from my heavenly home Few are thy days, and full of woe Fierce passions discompose the mind For ever with the Lord
For mercies, countless as the sands Fortune, for thee whilst others sigh
Food, raiment, dwelling, health, and friends From Egypt lately came
Give heed my heart, lift up thine eyes Glorious things of thee are spoken Gloomy night embraced the peace Glory to God on high
God gives His mercies to be spent God of the morning, at whose voice God of my salvation, hear... God moves in a mysterious way... God is our refuge, our strong tower God of that glorious gift of grace Grace triumphant in the throne... Gracious Lord, our children see... Great God, whose universal sway Great God of wonder, all Thy ways
Happy the man whose hopes rely Hark! the herald angels sing Hail to the Lord's Anointed
Hail! thou once despised Jesus Haste, traveller, haste! the night comes on
Hear, gracious God, a sinner's cry
He, who on earth as man was known
Here, O my Lord! I see Thee face to face
Jesus, my all, to Heaven is gone
Jesu, Thou art my righteousness
Jesus, Thy Church with longing eyes
Jesus, the Shepherd of the sheep
Jesus, the very thought of Thee Jesus, Thou joy of loving hearts Jesus, when near th' expected hour Jesus, while He dwelt below Jesus, where'er Thy people mect Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Lead kindly light, amid th' encircling gloom... Lord, as to Thy dear cross we flee
Lord, cause Thy face on us to shine Lord, I feel a carnal mind
Lord, it belongs not to my care... Lord Jesu, when we stand afar Lord, in Thy name Thy servants plead Lord, my soul with pleasure springs Lord of mercy and of might Lord of all power and might Lord of heaven and earth, and ocean Lord of the harvest, once again... Lord teach me how to pray aright Lord! unto Thee we cry
Lord, when before Thy throne we meet Lo! the day the Lord hath made Lo! God is here! let us adore Lo! at noon 'tis sudden night
Morning lifts her dewy veil My conscience is my crown My faith looks up to Thee My former hopes are fled ...
My God! I thank Thee, may no thought My God, how perfect are Thy ways My God, now I from sleep awake My God, my Father, blissful name My Lord, my love, was crucified... My life's a shade, my days My soul is sad and much dismay'd My soul, repeat His praise My soul, there is a country
Oh! Thou, who sitt'st enthroned on high Oh! worship the King, all glorious above
O Lord, my God, I wandered have O Lord, turn not Thy face away O Lord, our languid souls inspire O Lord, another day is flown O Lord, how little do we know On the mountain's top appearing One there is above all others On God the race of man depends O Saviour, may we never rest
O Thou! who makest the sun to rise
O Thou great power in whom I move O Thou, who comest from above
Our life is but an idle play
Our praise Thou need'st not; but Thy love
Our God, our help in ages past
Shine on our souls, eternal God.
Sinner, hear the Saviour's call...
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice
Sinner, art thou still secure?
Slowly fashioned, link by link
Spirit! leave thine house of clay...
Sweet is the work, my God, my King
Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer
Sweet place, sweet place alone
That man no guard or weapon needs The book of Nature open lies The cooling breath of evening woke
